Question:
What is a buffer-under run error, and how can it be resolved?
Answer:
"A buffer under run error means that for some reason the flow of data from the hard disk to the CD Recorder was interrupted long enough for the CD Recorders buffer to be emptied, and writing halted. CD Writing is a real time process, which must run constantly without interruptions. If the buffer empties during a writing operation, your recordable (CD-R) disc may/will be ruined. Some ways to prevent buffer under run errors are as follows: Press CNTL/ALT/DEL and close all programs running in the background, EXCEPT Explorer, Systray & our software. Turn off any screen savers-Right click on the desktop, select properties, choose screen saver, click on screen saver drop down arrow and choose (none), then click Apply and press Okay. Turn off any Power Management-go to Start, go to Settings, choose Control Panel, click on Power Management, under Power Schemes-choose Home/Office Desk, click on the bottom 3 drop down arrows and choose never, click APPLY and then OK. Try copying to the hard drive first, then to the recorder. Try a different source disc Make sure everything is turned off in Systray (bottom RH corner) Click on CD Copy, go to Tools and click on Advanced, then slide the Cache small size file to 1024. If writing more than 10,000 small files, use Create ISO CD Image File. Go to File, and choose ISO CD Image File. Avoid recording across a network. If possible, log out of any networks. Use Disk Defragmenter or third-party software such as Diskeeper to defragment your hard drive. "
