Question: When doing an Image backup with Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2 installed) the restored Image fails to boot. Answer: The problem seems to be with the additional security added by the new Service Pack. The are two solutions for this issue. 1. Remove Service Pack 2 from Windows 2000. If you do not wish to remove SP2 from your system you can do the following: 2. Make sure the drive/partition that you restore the Image to is exactly the same size as the original drive/partition. This will get around the added security of the new Service Pack.
